| - I made 2 appointments to dry on dresses. One at DBs and one at Catans. Had the ladies in tow. I didn't need to go to Catans and rummage through what was left of their stock. They are sell out and the business is closing to go to Michael's. I was hoping to support local business but oh well, they would not accept appointment. You had to go it alone.
That was not the case a Davids. I had lots of help from Ashley C. she listened to what I was looking for viewed a few pictures and we were off. Mary Hovanec the store manager was there to aid in our search too, Thank god, because it is really had to tell what a dress looks like when you are looking a hundreds of white blobs of fabric on hangers. This is where their expertise was most helpful having seen most of the dresses on women of all shapes and sizes. We grabbed up 5 dresses and into the room we go to "dive" into them.
The most unconformable thing is just meeting someone and totally stripping down in front of them in a room the size of a closet. But Ashley was a professional through and through. I assured my self she had seen worse and got over my modesty immediately. It's a good thing too. In order to harness, corset, and bind yourself into a wedding dress it takes teamwork.
First 4 dresses some good, some OK. One more dress left to try one. This is the one Mary chose out for me based of the pictures I showed her of one similar which was not longer carried. Ashley starts tucking me in and lacing me up. I start to get goosebumps. I feel like a goddess. Bound and swaddled in yards of luscious satin like Aphrodite rising from the foam of the sea. Waist nipped in like Mae West, hips and curves, and boobs altered and bullied by the boning into a form a didn;t even know I had. I walked out to look at myself in the dreamy satin drop waited work of art and show my ladies. I had dropped jaws, gasps, and nodding heads. Tears streamed down my face. I found my dress.
All it took was 2 hours with these experts and one of the most important parts of my wedding checked off. No more stressing over it. The best past I was out the door under $450. Dream dress in tow. I told em', "put it in a bag i'm taking her home." They were no complementary and sweet, they were more excited than I was! I could not have done it would out Ashley C. and Mary. The best part ... when I checked out they gave me a $20 gift card to Shutterfly! Score got a deal on Engagement Party invites. What a deal.
The only negative part was the discussion with alterations. My dress came with a train... I'm getting married in a field. This is totally unfeasible. I knew I didn't want to have to deal with a bustle, why bother? Pay them a bunch of money to sew on hook and eyes just to keep the fabric off the ground? I don't need the fabric ... period. Get rid of it. The alterations lady said this was not possible, it had to be kept on and bustled. Oh Sweetie... bless your heart... I'll save you the trouble I got scissors and a sewing machine at home. Save me a few hundred bucks to shorten/tuck it. A corseted dress does't need altered, it alters you. While Ashley and Mary said I could make the dress my own to make it perfect the lady in alterations was like a the guardian of fabric, no cutting.
Still a great experience though and through. Recommending all the brides women (I don't like labeling my friends based off of the condition of their hymen IE: bridesMAID, MATRON of Honer.. nope) go there to see if they can find a dress in the right color that suites them.
