  • I have been with Preventive for several years here in Vegas, and am consistently pleased with the service I've received. They are always at the house when they state they will be, have shown me nothing but professionalism every time they come by for service, and in the years I have been with them I have only had one instance in which I required a re-service, and after which I never had an issue in that house again. I've lived in two locations, both of which had a lot of scorpions, roaches and spiders when I first moved in. With the regular services, I rarely see any of these little critters in or around my home at all. If I do, they're usually dead or just about dead. In recent months, I've had some problems with rats around the backyard by our pool. I called Preventive right away after seeing a rat running around, and they set up traps in the attic/roof, and outside to catch and dispose of them without issue. ***MOST OF NOTE I had an incredible experience with Amanda at Preventive just a couple weeks ago: I was at home on a Wednesday afternoon, waiting for some family to come by, just after having gone through some emergent medical issues the day prior. The doorbell rang. It was a young gentleman working for a company called Aptive Environmental who had an iPad and a clipboard and spoke really calmly. He introduced himself and proceeded to talk to me about Aptive, and how they were an established pest control company who had recently changed their name and was looking for new clients. He pulled up their Google review page, which had great reviews, and quickly thumbed through it. He quoted me $90 quarterly, and ensured me they would do a better job than my current pest control company. Being in a hurry to shoo him away and greet my family which had now arrived, I obliged, thinking I could save a little money and easily transition. Though it was foolish on my part, I electronically signed my initials and we scheduled for the first service to happen on that following Friday. Friday came, and another nice young guy came to the house and completed the service, nothing to write home about. The following Monday I called to cancel Preventive. I spoke with Amanda, and she was really nice, and asked sweetly why I had chosen to cancel. I explained the interaction I had with Aptive, to which she replied with a heavy and frustrated sigh. This was not the first time she had heard of a situation like this happening, and she told me if I was motivated by saving money, they would be happy to price match the figure Aptive had quoted me. Also adding that a quarterly pest control in Las Vegas is not advantageous in any way, as the areas where there are pests and bugs need to be treated more often. I agreed, and assured her I would call Aptive back and see if I could still cancel. I called Aptive, and I was met with nothing but brick walls. Though I was technically within the grace period for cancellation, I had failed to realize there was a fine print on the electronic document I had signed which stated if I cancelled and had already had the initial service, I would be responsible for paying Aptive the difference between the regular rate of that service ($219) and the discounted rate they gave me ($15). I attempted to explain my situation (medical issues, my trying to hurry the guy out of my house, not fully reading the document etc) to no avail. I did not expect to have been given the initial service for only 15 dollars, and offered them $75, $100 etc, something more reasonable for that service I already received. I was told this was not possible and a manager would call me soon. Which didn't happen. I called Amanda back at Preventive and explained the situation. She spoke with another manager, and called me back immediately. She apologized on behalf of Aptive's actions, and told me they would give me three free regular bimonthly services, ($69 a piece), as well as a free rat trapping program should I need it ($250 value). She was warm, and understanding, and patient. I was so happy. I called Aptive the following day, after not having heard from any manager at all, explained my situation to a manager in its entirety, and again was met with nothing. I had to pay the $204 no matter what. He did offer me another lower rate for the quarterly services when I told him I was going to cancel, and stated I could have a free rat trapping program, but I was so angry I told him that was not acceptable and I wanted to cancel, nothing else. Overall, it was my fault for signing without reading all of Aptive's rules, but it is unfortunate that there are companies without any empathy for human mistake and situations. This was incredibly frustrating at a tough time in my life, and Amanda and Preventive have been nothing but supportive and helpful through the whole thing. THANK YOU PREVENTIVE!
