  • My gut reaction was to turn and walk away. Why? Because contrary to what this place's website and reviews suggest, inside the Monsieur awaited not two old-school barbers, but rather two Asian kids with spiky hair and highlights and a nose piercing. Mind you, I don't have a problem with their being ten years younger than me. But I do have a bit of a problem with their appearance, which seemed most at home with the metrosexual stylist salon I'm precisely trying to avoid. Anyway, I ignored my gut reaction and went for a haircut. Long story short, the kid ruined my haircut, which is simple and traditional, parted on the left, turning it instead the spiky, gelled mess I used to sport years ago. This despite the fact that I even showed him a picture taken the day after my previous haircut. I'm not ever going back, and I suggest you don't risk it. Go instead to the Terminal barbershop. Those guys don't just look like professionals -- they are. And they among the best.
