| - Myself and 25 others (all in our 20s) traveled to go Salt River tubing this summer and had a wonderful time. We started early (9:30am) and on a Monday (barely came across other groups). The staff greeted us very warmly and were helpful in answering any questions. We brought tons of canned beer, liquor-filled water bottles, gallons of homemade sangria, juice, soda, craploads of water, UNCRUSTABLES, and chips that kept us going from point 1 to 4 (about 5 hours). All of this fit into 8 coolers that we put on their own individual floaters (made for coolers from Walmart) and into the middle of our group's tubes. We tied groups of 6 or 7 tubes together with twine and then connected these groups with carabiners. We felt this would be the best configuration because we wanted to be close but have flexibility to separate when we came across the 2 rocky rapid parts of the river. The plan worked pretty well, and we didn't lose any of our precious liquor and water. The river was beautiful and we barely came across trash - a few cans of full beer here and there but I can't complain! $17 for a day of chill and relaxation is unbeatable. We will 100% do this again and again!
A few pointers:
- twine to tie tubes together (unrecommended but extremely useful)
- cheap TWIN sized FITTED bed sheets to place over the tubes instead of towels
- don't bring towels because you'll probably never see it again
- bring cheap sunglasses & hats
- reapply sunblock every hour or two
- don't forget to drink water!!!
- bring UNCRUSTABLES, they were lifesavers
- when approaching rapids, keep your bums lifted and hang on to coolers for dear life
- don't bring your cell phone, it's not worth it (you can take mental pictures =))
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: arrange a ride beforehand; uber, rent a shuttle, but don't think you can be okay to drive after day-drinking!
- &&&& PLEASE DO NOT LITTER! you'll want to come back in the future
