  • I'm in love with this place. Looks are very deceiving I will say. It's not fancy looking like places in Tempe and Scottsdale but I personally liked it the most. First of all my friend and I tried to go to a place in Scottsdale which they wanted us to take a $29 belaying class to be certified. I don't know if that was in addition to the $20 for day pass and equipment or separate but I thought it was insane. But here at Ape Index I paid $20 and that included my day pass, shoes, gear, and the instructor was a super awesome dude who could tell I was nervous and he made sure to go over things with me multiple times until I felt comfortable. He had me tie the knots over and over again until I felt good about it, he showed me belaying, hooking in, climbing, etc. He was amazing. I have to say that rock climbing is almost an all body work out which is amazing. And they tell you to use your legs as much as possible, not really your arms but that's just impossible not to do. On top of everything else my friend left his very expensive equipment at the place and not only did no one steal his stuff but they kept it aside so I could return and pick it up the next day. I felt super safe there with all my possessions as well. My friends and I liked it so much that we're actually considering getting memberships.
