| - Monta Ramen is a popular spot located in Chinatown. Their place isn't big at all, and this place can probably only seat around 25 people. I had to wait around 15 minutes for enough people to leave to seat four at the bar. If you have a party of more than four, you will definitely have to wait longer since there's only two tables that can seat that much.
First of all, I have to say I'm astonished by their prices. I'm typically used to $12+ bowls of ramen, and these were all around $7! I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which has a creamy, pork broth. The other two popular bowls are the tonkotsu/shoyu and the spicy tonkotsu ramen. All bowls come with the basic green onions, two slices of chashu, bamboo shoots and kikurage. Toppings are available for pretty cheap as well. I added an egg for $1.50.
Being seated at the bar let us watch what happened. The kitchen works super fast, and we all had our bowls within seven minutes. We ordered a gyoza appetizer, but it came out five minutes after our speedy ramen. For the price, the portion size was large and kept me full. The noodles were perfectly cooked and on the chewier side, which I liked. The noodles make up the majority of the bowl, but the toppings are a little lacking. The egg I ordered was cold. I would've liked it better if basic toppings included more vegetables. The broth was the perfect consistency, but it was too salty for me to enjoy. My mom and brother ordered extra noodles for $1.50, and they came out in two minutes. The extra noodles is literally the same amount as what you get in the beginning. It's a huge amount of food for such a small price!
The gyoza was a little overcooked and the bottom was slightly burnt. The filling lacked flavor and I wouldn't recommend it.
Definitely would recommend coming here for the ramen bowls! Their price is unbeatable.
