  • Maybe they are good with hiking shoes but terrible with climbing shoes. I found them from the mountain project site listed as the only place in Phoenix that resoles climbing shoes. In an attempt to support local business I gave them a try. Shoe pair 1: + I asked for an estimate prior to repair. I got a call 3 weeks later saying it was done and I owed $60. + Hiking Shack beveled the edge so that it was rounded? Shoes will no longer edge/toe. + The hole that was in the shoe was still there after they "repaired" it. They seemed to have sanded down the front of the shoe so the hole was less obvious. + I called back and was told that 1 in 400 people complain about their service so I must not know what I'm talking about. After several exchanged, they admitted they were training a new shoe repair guy. + After finally talking to Dale (he was nice in person) he offered to fix my climbing shoes properly as I'd already paid $60. Unfortunately the shoe repair place they use still don't know what they are doing. They put a very loose cap on the toe (?) that makes edging really difficult. I haven't heard of this but you would think the cap would at least be tight + After about 7 trips to the climbing gym the toe cap and sole started to separate. Not enough glue? + After 6 weeks and 4 trips back to the store I still don't have a functional pair of shoes. 3 weeks in I bought a new pair of shoes from Summit Hut where they are friendly and know climbing shoes. REALLY frustrated at this point. I'm out $60 + tax and no usable shoes. Not driving back again to try to get them to fix this. Guess I'll use Rock and Resole next time. Oh and terrible customer service (they said they were doing me favor providing this service? when are paying customers requesting a favor?). I say let them keep my $60 and I'm glad I don't have to deal with this anymore. Shoe pair 2 (my friend went there too with me): + Same thing, beveled the edge so you can't edge + They put a toe cap and new half sole - can't edge with loose toe cap. + They lost her shoes on the second attempt at repair + Ended up buying a new pair of shoes too
