We had dinner there last night. I'm excited for this little gem during our very busy Pro-Bowl and SuperBowl season. It's right in the heart of Glendale and is a real find.
We had the stuffed cabbage and the apple desert (fritter?) Both were heavenly. The stuffed cabbage has a flavorful sauce that finishes it off perfectly. The sausage/beef stuffing was seasoned just right and complemented the entire dish. When we got to the dessert, I didn't think I would have any. My boyfriend ordered it and I said I would have a tiny taste. WOW! Fabulous! It's a big dessert, big enough for two people. And I had far more than a 'taste.' Exquisite. That's all. Exquisite. Oh, and the beer menu is good. I had a red beer (I already forget what it was, but it was rich and full-bodied and was a good accompaniment to the food and the mood.
The ambiance in the restaurant is wonderful. It definitely feels like you have slipped into Germany. We sat outside in the courtyard. With the heaters it was very comfortable. The decor is greatl and sets the mood. The singer (Al) was great. He went from country to jazz to soft rock to pop with ease. He knew so many songs I was blown away. The Manager was very attentive doubling as our waiter. He knew his beers and the menu well, and he obviously loves his job.
I'll tell you how great this is... my BF is a chef and he went out of his way to go back into the kitchen to compliment the chef and kitchen team. I highly recommend this. If you are here in Phoenix for all the festivities, make sure and add this to your list of restaurants. You will thank me later! Bon Appetit!
