  • I guess it depends on who you get for your tour guide. Bill, for our Grand Canyon tour, was a straight out jerk. Willie for our Hoover Damn tour was the exact opposite. He was funny, attentive, informative, pleasant...we enjoyed the Hoover Damn tour way more than the Grand Canyon Tour, which is unfortunate, because the GC tour is longer. Whatever you do, do not pay full price for either tour. Use groupon or similar. I would not recommend the GC tour. It takes at least 6 hours each way. You only get about 2 1/2 hours in the canyon and the restaurant you stop at is very mediocre. Rent a vehicle and stay the night. It's convenient that they pick everyone up from their hotels, but there has to be a better option so you can have more time at the canyon. You wake up at the crack of dawn to be picked up at your hotel to only be bused to their location, wait in line, then load onto another bus. A waste of almost 2 hours. Plus they don't leave you if you're not on the bus. This is great if you are one of the ones running behind, but sucks for the others who want to enjoy more time in the canyon.
