Every year me and my sisters get together for an Annual Sisters Day that consists of staying a night at a hotel, going out for dinner and enjoying the night. We usually do this the first week of December and book out in October/November. We do this on Friday nights so we expect the room price to be a little high for the start of the weekend but expect great service and room expectations for the price we pay. This year we opted to try out the Hilton Hotel as my sister had previously stayed at this currently location the previous year for a work function.
When we arrived for check-in we weren't greeted by a friendly front desk agent. She simply just asked us for our reservation name and ID. No what brings you down to the hotel? Upgrades? Are you guys from out of town? There was nobody at check in so the front desk agents were bombarded with guests asking questions or bothering them so we expected some more customer service and conversation as everybody expects when being welcomed to a hotel. We got our room keys and head upstairs to our room.
When we got to our room everything was pretty clean except the garbage can still had a few pieces of paper we figured belonged to the last person that stayed there and there was no mini fridge! Whatttttt! How are we going to keep our wine cold (we're classy ladies y'know?). We decided to go the College student way and take the champagne bucket to get ice. Unfortunately our floor did not have an ice machine so we had to take the elevator up to the floor above to get ice and chill our wine. The hotel also doesn't offer Free WiFI which is a big no-no for me. I believe only Hilton Honour members get the free wifi. It's 2016 guys..Starbucks gives free wifi, you are a multi-billion dollar hotel I'm sure you can afford to give your guests free internet as well.
We had a great view of the Shangri-La hotel however, where i'm sure every room had a mini room to chill their wine :(.
Another thing we noticed was that no staff smiled or greeted us while we walked around the halls. You usually except hotel staff to be welcoming as you are essentially in their home and we are their "guests".
We will be staying next year at another hotel location. The hotel isn't terrible but there were many things that could be fixed and touched up on - primarily with their customer service.
