| - I am beyond disappointed with the customer service of this resort. We booked a room here as a staycation to celebrate our anniversary, and we were so excited to relax by the pool and be with each other. My fiancé received a call from the concierge the day before we arrived at 10:30am (a work day) and the voicemail simply said to call back. Considering we don't get done with work until late sometimes, we didn't end up being able to call back until about 7pm, and by that time he was gone. We thought nothing of it.
When we arrived to the resort the next morning, we were greeted with a very shrewd woman upon trying to check in who told us hat they overbooked their rooms for the weekend, and we didn't have a room anymore. No apology, no nothing. She just told us that they would move us to another hotel - an old hotel (not resort) in the middle of downtown that, let's just say, is not sitting at a 4.5 star rating on Yelp. I was upset by this and incredibly sad that we wouldn't be celebrating our anniversary the way we planned, so I told her that I was really disappointed by their customer service. She then chose to say "we tried to call you yesterday and you never called back. So I don't know what to tell you." Needless to say, we declined staying at the other hotel and got our money back.
And here's what really put the icing on the cake for me: I follow a few local AZ bloggers on Instagram, and what do you know, one of them got an all-expenses paid staycation at the Royal Palms the same weekend we were kicked out for over-booking! So they turned away a paying customer to have a blogger come and take pretty Instagram pictures. That's so wrong it's not even funny.
I hope management reads this review and understands the kind of repercussions these "business decisions" have on their customers. I will never stay here again, and beyond my review I'll make sure to tell everyone about my horrible experience.
