| - Came here one night because we had a restaurant.com certificate and it was so close to our home. There were some hits and misses in this meal but the hits were really exceptional.
A lot of people here gush at the laundry list of specials they have every day, but there were so many of them, it was difficult to remember. I wished they would take the effort to print a daily special menu. I felt like I should have brought a pen and paper with me to take notes as the waiter recited all the specials.
We ordered the arugula and beet and the Mediterranean salads off the specials menu. Between the bread (homemade fococcia, yum) and the salad being so big, I was full by the time the main course appeared at the table. The salads are expensive at like $14 or so, but I don't think they are meant to be eaten alone. I wished they would slash the price and scale down the salads, as $14 for an appetizer salad is too expensive. They were both very good, just too much.
We also split a half order of the homemade spinach and cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, it was one of the highlights of the meal. Really exceptional.
I ordered the Hawaiian pink snapper special and my husband had the gnocchi. The snapper was good but didn't think it was worth the $27 they charged for it. It's the first time I've ever eaten that type fish, and maybe I'm naive as to how much the fish costs to bring in the area, but it wasn't a memorable dish. A few weeks before I had the sea bass and risotto from Brand and felt that was a much more well cooked dish than this. The potatoes with the meal had no seasoning (at $27 dollars I would expect the seasoning to be spot on) but the asparagus was very good. Husband had the gnocchi and said it was nowhere in the same league as the ravioli, and while it was good, would not order it again over the ravioli.
I would come here again, as there is so much variety and the food is very fresh. But we'll order less food.
