| - Java is cool, but ONLY if you're in a mellow frame of mind, or prepared to GET mellow, fast. I like the funky decor, the relaxed atmosphere, strung up Christmas lights, and supercheap food - the prices are amazingly low. And the food is so-so - not stunning, but a few things are tasty enough, and if you're with a few friends, there's variety - noodles to fried tofu to grilled cheese sandwiches and smoothies. But the service can be very uneven - from one waitress in particular, who always wears her glasses on the edge of her nose, hair up, with a pencil in it. Get everything you want in from the get-go, because you won't see her again once the food arrives. And I suppose hoping they'll offer pinor noir on the menu is pushing it. It's a good place to unwind late after a concert, a late night at work, or with good friends...but don't go there on a first date or anything! It would be too awkward.
