| - One of the best modes of transportation, and one of the best values in Vegas, hands down. The Las Vegas Monorail runs behind several of the casinos along the strip, getting you from one end of the strip to the other in relatively quick order, certainly much faster than a taxi or other modes of transport on the strip itself, for a fraction of what you'd pay for a taxi.
The monorail runs from the MGM Grand at one far end (which is the intersection where the Tropicana, New York, New York, Excalibur and Luxor are also located) to the SLS/former Sahara at the other far end. Between there it makes stops at Bally's/Paris; Flamingo/Cesar's Palace; Harrah's; the Las Vegas Convention Center; and Westgate/former Las Vegas Hilton.
The biggest issue with the Monorail is that, if you're on the strip, in most cases you need to enter one of the casinos, walk through the labyrinth that is the casino floor and up and down stairways to get to the ticket stations and then to the Monorail. Definitely not the best mode of transport for people who have difficulty walking IMO. Also, in some casinos such as the MGM Grand, signage for the Monorail station is far less than adequate and it can be difficult to find without asking a staff member for directions.
That said, it only costs $5 for a one way ticket or $12 for a 24 hour pass to ride the thing, which again, is far less expensive than a taxi. The Monorail gives you a unique view of the strip, a good chance to get an overview of where everything is located, and it's relatively fast and reliable.
