| - I just cannot say enough good things about the Top of the World Restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere Resort.
+ Excellent view! (of course)
+ Fast lunch seating even if you don't have a reservation.
+ Great food.
+ An outstanding price given the venue.
+ Perfect leisurely service.
+ Place settings totally appropriate for a fine restaurant.
+ A cordiality setting the standard for any restaurant to follow.
+ 100% clean and neat bathrooms.
+ Excellent Coca-Cola,,, to take with you!.
I half expected the Top of the World Restaurant to have a great view but only be a blah experience for everything else. Boy was I wrong! You can bank on every point listed above to provide you with and experience to be remembered!
A very nice point that is observed by all of the staff is the fact I never felt rushed to vacate our table. Even when our meal was obviously finished and we were dawdling over our drinks while watching the skyline and the jumpers go by. As I learned later a full rotation of the seating area around the tower takes about 120 minutes. They allow everyone who comes in to enjoy at least a full rotation before even thinking about addressing your stay.
Couple the leisurely meal and view with the excellent food served and it all adds up to time an money well spent whether you come for lunch or dinner.
We started out with the Flash Fried Calamari Served with tomato sauce and wasabi sour cream. A tender and tasty starter served in a visually appealing way. (I'll add photos later). Also served to start was a selection of rolls with various flavors butters. The one I really liked was an Orange flavored butter with a bit of orange in the center of the shell shaped pat as a surprise. Super yummy on the warm rolls!
My meal was the Petit Filet Mignon With roasted portobellini mushroom and Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Also comes with a selection of sauces but I stuck with the Brandy peppercorn sauce. The Filet arrived perfectly rare. The meat quality was top notch as was everything else about the plating. My lunch was gone all to fast! Even the portobellini mushroom which am usually none too fond of.
My daughter's was the Fettuccine Seafood Alfredo Hand made pasta, sautéed prawns and scallops, cream, garlic and Parmesan, peas, teardrop tomato and asparagus. Nothing says satisfaction from your child like the verbal silence that you hear while your daughter devours her meal. Of special note were the scallops and prawns. The prawns were actually prawn sized as opposed to the cocktail shrimp other places try to pass off as prawns. The scallops were large pieces of goodness that disappeared even before the prawns did. The paste and the rest of the composition was spot on. Yes, I had to sneak in a bite or two when she wasn't looking.
Both meals gave their money's worth in quality and amount.
Everything was served perfectly with attention during the meal at well timed intervals. A special note of thanks to our server who addressed both my 10 year old and me with equal grace and attention. You really made her feel well treated too!
The final topper was the Coca-Cola to go. I am Coke snob but the Top of the World Restaurant must be keeping on top of the coke machine like everything else they do. It was an excellent coke with no fuss about a cup to go.
Another service offered by the Top of the World Restaurant and Cashman are meal photos. The person who took our did an excellent job. Since in was lunch and perfectly clear outside, the backdrop of the surrounding city and hills was and pleasing counterpoint to the restaurant. When a photo comes together, especially a photo with your girl, you act it without hesitation! The whole set I opted for was $100 in addition to the meal and worth every cent for the way pictures came out.
I recommend the Top of the World Restaurant as a Las Vegas destination for any local or visitor to experience at least once.
