| - Well the pub looks fab! They re-designed it to have all kinds of memorable English memorabilia, and the tables, chairs and Union Jack couch are all spectacular. The wait staff are all beautiful, helpful, friendly and great at what they do. The draft beer, Guinness is my choice, is pulled excellently and tastes great without any stomach aches that dirty pipes usually do at older less clean pubs.
However, the kitchen needs some major changes. The first time I went to the Owl I got a hamburger--cost me 12 bucks! I figured, this is going to be an amazing burger. Nope. In the end the burger was over charred, and all I could taste was burnt meat. The second time I went to the Owl, I splurged for the New York strip steak. It also came to me over charred, tasting of burnt meat and not medium rare as I requested. When I notified the waitress, she kindly asked if I wanted a replacement, and I declined and instead requested the fish and chips. Big mistake. The fish was so over cooked it was like eating cardboard. The chips were not cooked as I requested, extra crispy, and I just gave up complaining. The desserts were good, but I don't think they can screw up throwing a mud pie in the microwave for 2 minutes.
All in all, this is a superb pub, and it has the makings of being a real winner. It is unfortunate that the important part of the pub, no not the beer but the food, is desperately in need of an overhaul.
