| - I would not recommend this place for dietary issues. I came in to see Benjamin to help with the severity of my lactose intolerance. He did blood tests and a comprehensive exam. He told me that my body "reacted" to a bunch of foods, all of which i did not have a problem with before, but was told to eliminate from my diet. I did this for a month, took the pills he prescribed, and felt extremely sick the whole time. He kept saying that you are worse before you're better, and I have run out of options so I kept going. I have no idea how I lasted two months on this, but lost a bunch of weight due to not eating so at least I had that. Finally, I couldn't do it anymore. I was in tears from starving myself because there was not much left I could eat, and when I did eat I was sick.
I had no idea why I was so sick from this 'treatment', but after reading about the pills he gave me I discovered that there is a lot of controversy surrounding the ingredients (glutamine was one, see article below). It seems that this type of 'medicine' is very subjective and 'based' in science, but not real science. I was very excited to try something different from the medical system and get some answers, but this was clearly not the right way to go.
Icing on the cake, I was charged $125 for emails that I sent to Benjamin telling him how sick his treatment made me and asking him what I should do. Furthermore, the pills he prescribes is from one specific company and he only works with them; you can read between the lines on that one. Nothing was natural in those pills, I didn't know one ingredient on the list and do not define these as natural.
If you are going to go to an ND, take it with a grain of salt and do your research, and don't use MedCan.
