  • The quality of TTC service is 50:50. I have encountered more difficult bus drivers, than good ones that I no longer purchase a Metropass, no longer use the TTC regularly and acquired my own vehicle instead. Imo, many of their employees are lackadaisical; and too secure; it's a typical problem with unionized people. They need to train their employees to treat passengers as paying customers. All drivers and employees should be sent to annual mandatory "how to treat people with respect & dignity school". A demerit system should be established whereby drivers have their wages reduced based on legit complaints, and good drivers get one-time bonuses based on legit praises for them. All TTC employees should be subject to psyche testing in order to qualify for hire, so as to avoid hiring difficult/ rude people. If they were courteous, most passengers would overlook the problems. I also notice some bus drivers do not lower the bus for baby carriages, baggage, etc, and do not do so when the sidewalks are dangerously icy. Even when drivers see customers struggling to lift their carriages, baggage, etc, onto the bus, they still don't offer to lower the bus (when it's common sense to offer)..and TTC does not make it known that the customer can ask for such assistance. The drivers are trained to not voluntarily lower the bus in such cases. The TTC is teaching their drivers bad habits. Even worse are the impatient bus drivers who suddenly wrecklessly swerve the bus out of the bus stop when passengers have just boarded and are not yet seated, that some actually fall over. It does not seem our physical safety is a priority. It is the problematic behaviour of "some" bus drivers that provokes customers. When some drivers make a mistake, they immediately point fault at the customer. It's a shame that the bad apples in the company tarnish the reputation of the good employees...but they are being taught by the TTC. And they're giving free rides for kids? Don't they think the working people need seats after a long? Imo, it is only the babies in strollers that shouldn't have to pay; older children can pay reduced fares. TTC is making the transit system less available to the working people. And their ticket sellers can easily be replaced with pass/presto vending machines. This whole scenario does not make sense to me. TTC needs Competition. As such I think the city should mandate another daily bus service(s) to operate from the TTC stops/stations allowing the public the option to ride with another bus company. Passes/tokens/transfers should be sold that represent a split fare between using the TTC Subway and a privatized bus company(ies). We should have the option of riding with another bus company. Better yrt, get yout own vehicle. It is not worth the aggravation of taking the TTC...It is No Longer The Better Way.
