I had a voucher for a 30 minute full upper body massage. I paid $20 and it was supposedly valued at $75, so I thought I was getting a hell of a deal. Anything but.
First, I made an appointment for a Wednesday morning. I arrived on time to realize that the doors were locked. I called Cathy and she pretended as if we had never made an appointment for that day. That day I wasted two subway tokens. I rescheduled the appointment for a Friday morning at 10am. I specifically told her that I had to be done by 11 because I had to pick up my child from school. I arrived once again on time and she made me wait until 10:30 to finally go in. Needless to say I wasn't out of there until 11:15, which resulted in me having to take a taxi.
In addition, she charged me HST on the $75, not the $20 as it states on the voucher site. I told her that I was sure it was only on the $20, but I was so late that I did not have time to argue and go into the site on my phone to show her where it states that HST is paid only on the cost of the voucher. When all is said and done, something that was supposed to cost me $22.60 ended up costing me: $20 (voucher) + $5.20 (two subway tokens) + $15.75 (cost of taxi) + $9 (tax charged) = $49.95.
And how was the actual massage you are wondering? Mediocre at best. I couldn't relax anyway because I was kept waiting for so long. Cathy was friendly throughout and did offer me a drink, but I could just never go back.
