I have been back to Fantasy Nails since they moved locations - early 2015 - and I am happy to add a star to my review. The new location is bigger, cleaner and more efficient. I didn't get acrylics, so I can't speak to the application again, but my cuticle didn't suffer abuse and everything else has definitely improved!!

I really wanted to like Fantasy Nails for 2 reasons:
1.) The guy who did my nails was really friendly and funny, so I wanted to be able to recommend his store
2.) It is really close to my house
...BUT, unfortunately, I honestly can't rave about this place.
I went in to get a full set, french manicure. I didn't have to wait and I didn't have an appt so that was a bonus. Like I mentioned, the guy who did my nails was funny and friendly, and easily up-sold me on gel nails instead of acrylics. I have never had gel nails before, but figure they were worth a shot even though they are slightly more expensive - (french manicure is also slight more expensive too, but that is standard) - Overall I think I paid $48 including tip
Other reviews have mentioned that they are quick at Fantasy Nails, and my experience was the same. That being said, I think that the quality of finish product suffered due to the hast in which my nails were done. Having never had gel nails before, I wasn't warned that the chemicals actually heat up while they bond and my nails got extremely uncomfortable. I asked about the heat and he simply sprayed my nails with alcohol and the burning went down. I was just surprised, I felt like he wasn't paying that much attention to customer service in a way.
Also, I wanted squared tips and boy did I get SQUARE tips. The edges weren't rounded or smoothed at all. I actually had to take a file to my nails as soon as I got home - I could imagine impaling my boyfriend in his sleep if I accidentally rolled over or god forbid I needed to scratch my eye or something, I would've definitely cause cornea damage.
The jagged edges were annoying, but fixable...the bubbles under the coating, however, weren't. To quote Clueless, my nails were totally Monet. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, from far away my nails looked great, but up close they were a mess. There were bubbles in at least 50% of my nails. Bummer. Obviously, if you're getting a color/polish, then the bubbles are a moot point.
Last and certainly not least, my cuticles were actually sore for 2 days after I got my nails. Now, I'm not 'fake nail virgin' so I'm fully aware that sore cuticles aren't necessarily the sign of poor work, but mine were REALLY sore for 2 solid days. I'll take 1/2 the blame though I guess. Maybe I didn't moisturize enough? Maybe I'm getting overly sensitive in my old age? Who knows.
Again, friend and fast, but I haven't decided if I'll be back for a fill or if I'll take my chances somewhere else.
