| - I was so thrilled when the BF took me here for breakfast today. It is so rare that we get to enjoy a morning together with our hectic lives. The menu looked delicious- and the Eggs Benedict special that my BF ordered was great. In no way, would I consider it "healthy" though... lol! Loaded in delicious fat... The employees were polite as well- even though the place was packed.
I ordered the kale salad... This is where things went very down hill... it was covered in oil. No dressing, but olive oil. There was so much oil on the salad that it pooled on the plate. I rarely send anything back, but it was inedible.
They took it back and brought me out a new plate that almost looked like the same exact salad... I ate about half of the salad- again oil pooled on the plate, but my mouth was so coated with olive oil, I was starting to feel sick. I could feel it on my lips, my chin... absolutely DISGUSTING!
Since this is what they gave us after I already sent it back for too much oil... I didn't want to complain again. I really dislike having to do that, especially since the place was very busy.
I ended up using about 27 napkins... I am NOT exaggerating. I used about 27 napkins to ring out the kale, so that the dish would be edible. We had a huge pile of oil soaked napkins all over our table. My hands were also soaked with oil... It was ridiculous. Even the people sitting at the table next to us were shocked by the amount of oil... it was really awful. Even after using 27 napkins to soak up some of the oil... the rest was still very oily... it was just a little more tolerable. Although the employees were very polite here, they did see what was happening with the salad, but never offered to fix the plate again- and made sure not to ask how our meal was when we purchased a few miscellaneous items before departing.
We spent about $50-60 there this morning, between food and trinkets... I'm really disappointed that such a highly regarded establishment messed up so epic on something as simple as a salad.
Additionally, I ordered that salad as I have been trying to eat healthier, but since there was definitely more than 4 tablespoons of olive oil on the salad... that salad ended up being over 600 calories... which is such a bummer. For that amount of calories and fat, I would have rather had the eggs benedict or something a heck of a lot tastier than a kale salad. I should have just not eaten it, but I wanted to enjoy the rare breakfast out with the BF.
I don't think we will come here again because of this experience.
