  • I was not going to post, but I think it is important. I came to this salon several months ago. I was getting gel on my nails and was looking for a good salon. I came to this one because it got high stars with Yelp. I was told that I should try the dip treatment. This is a treatment that uses a powder to set color with specific products that allow it to harden on your nails just like gel, yet unlike gel, it is apparently infused with vitamins and it's supposed to help strengthen your nails rather than weaken them, which gel has been known to do. I heard about this treatment, for the first time, from the salon, and trusted the aesthetician. I came in religiously every 2 to 4 weeks to have my dip done. With the exception that some of the aestheticians at the salon are not as good as other nail aestheticians, in my opinion,I've had no complaints. A few months later, specifically about four weeks ago, I couldn't get to the salon. I noticed that the dip was coming off on its own and I was able to remove it simply with a little bit of acetone. Usually, when I would go into the salon, they would use a drill to remove the surface color and use a buff later. What I noticed when I no longer put the dip on is how weak my nails looked. They were easily bendable and they broke with the smallest touch. They cracked easily and looked completely dehydrated. They never looked this bad when I used gel. I started doing some research because I'm in the healthcare industry. I spoke to a friend of mine who told me that after doing the dip only once, she noticed her nails were weakened. I spoke to two other women that I met at another salon who told me that their nails were very much weakened after they tried the dip three or four times and would not do it again. Without going on and on, I am very disappointed in the answer that I got when I contacted the salon. They explained that it works for most people and rarely has the reverse effect. Firstly, that was never disclosed to me when I was first told about this treatment... that it could potentially weaken one's nails... yet I also don't agree with the salon as I have met three other women whom have already had negative experiences using dip. Due to this, I felt it was important to put a review so the public is aware. I will not be coming back to the salon again because it is unacceptable that I should be told of how wonderful a treatment is and not be told there is a chance that I could have the opposite effect. Quite frankly, too many people seem to have the opposite effect.
