  • Short Story: Do not pay with a debit card using a pin if you may return the product. Long Story: I bought a Macbook Pro for my girlfriends graduation and instead she wanted to go to Disney World. So I said that was fine and went to return the laptop. I spent about an hour in the store dealing with various representatives because their system would not allow them to credit back to the original payment method because debit with a pin is considered a "cash" purchase. So now they want to send me a check within 7-10 business days, and I could call 1-800-my-apple to see if they can override it. When I called and waited on hold for about 30 minutes, the online folks told me that they do not have access to the retail store sales/ returns and called the store to see if the GM could get this resolved. The GM was unable to do anything at this point and I am pretty much stuck waiting for a fairly large check for my pay grade. That is fine, however, I wanted to confirm where they were sending the check. Nobody seems to have access to this information; retail store, online or corporate. I understand that security for customers is paramount, however, I do not understand how the largest company in the world, let alone a software engineer, does not have access to where a refund check is going to be sent when they continuously tout their Cloud services. Also they could not provide me a phone number for anyone that would be issuing the checks and no one has any idea where to send me to find out where the check is being sent. The only reason why I gave them 2 stars versus 1 is because they gave me a free USB charger ($29.00 + tax at the store) because of the mishap. They did it fully on their own accord, without me asking or even suggesting they do so. All in all I just cannot believe they have no manual overrides nor do they have any representatives at this point that can offer any further assistance. Maybe I am being unreasonable, but I can tell you I paid over $2800.00 for the laptop and just want to know where my refund is being sent.
