| - I first heard about Leadership in like 2007 or something like that... actually, back when Myspace was still thriving (in the Before time. In the long, long ago) when I was looking for a Martial Arts school for Girls 1 & 2. . But instead of going with my initial gut and putting them here I made the IDIOTIC mistake of putting them in ATA Karate.
Fast forward to 2010 and again I am in need of a Martial Arts after school program; Enter Leadership. All four of The Little Kids have gone to Leadership's after school program. Currently, only Boys 3 & 4 are attending thought.
Jody, who is the Sensei's wife and office manager and deal with the most, is really nice, professional, funny and efficient when it comes to dealing with us and, I am assuming, the rest of the kids/parents. She knows each kid by name and, the best part, pays close attention to what they say, their behavior and keeps the parents up to date and informed of what's going on with the kids.
I have also had the pleasure to meet some of the after school assistants who are comprised by parents and mature teenagers. The kids have all grown quite fond of Mr. Cole, a teenage with whom we took Muay Thai classes as East Coast Fighter (http://www.yelp.com/biz/east-coast-fighter-charlotte) and also works summers at Carowinds. The kids love this place, they get to spend their afternoon with other kids, learn martials arts and enjoy doing a bunch of activities.
Their belt ranking is cool because they DO NOT charge you for each rank as other places do. They are very flexible with payments and work with the parents on an as needed basis. I don't know much about the Sensei, but the kids seem to like him.
They just purchased a new lot where they are building their own edifice in the next couple of years. I hope that means they are doing well and I am glad that they are.
Highly recommend
