The almond croissant is NOT a work of art, as some Yelpers stated. Those people should try the one at Charmaine Sweets. Now that is 'un vrai chef d'ouevre'!
I was craving an almond croissant and my Go-To place (Charmaine Sweets) was closed on Monday. Searching on Yelp, I found Bobette. It's a cute-as-a-button store near Aroma Espresso. I had high hopes when I saw their beautiful offerings.
Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. Perhaps the cakes and other items were delectable but the almond croissant was SERIOUSLY MEH, as was the service. The young woman employee didn't greet customers and hardly made any small talk.
Me: I'm excited to see that you have Alfajores!
Her:
If she were more friendly and customer-oriented, she could have said:
(while I waited for her to serve the person before me)
"I'll be right with you."
(when I brought up the Alfajores)
"Yeah! You don't see those very often in Toronto!"
or
" Yeah! They are so good with a cappuccino!"
In the end, I bought 2 almond croissants, a sticky toffee pudding and skipped the Alfajores. Ate 1 almond croissant, left the other one for a few days (obviously not worth the $3+) and threw it away.
