| - I had High Expectations for this place. Been wanting to try them since their episode on Diners Drive Ins and Dives...
I came here for one thing, the Pork Belly!. I am from San Francisco where chinese food such as Peking Duck, Pork Buns etc. are in abundancre. However, I couldn't wait to try the Pork Belly at Bachi's. So? the Pork Belly Bao's are just oka6y. I imagined them tasting sooo much better from watching the episode on Diners. The actual chinese steam bun was not hot or even warm, they were cold. The worst part of a cold bun is that when a chinese steam bun gets cold it firms up, so the warm and soft texture of the bun is no longer. Also, the pork belly was not executed well. In the Diners episode it shows they dredge the pork belly lighly in corn starch then deep fry to give a suttle crunch texture, then they pan sautee it with the actual pork belly marinade. This clearly was not the case when we dined there. The pork looked as if it was only tossed in a pan with some oil.
The Ox Tails fries sound better than they actually taste. Literally there is no taste distinction that will cause you to identify actual Ox Tail in the chilli. It could be turkey for all I know. Literally tastes like your traditional chilli, with their asian inspired mayo over it. Not much fusion here.
Miyagi burger was actually good. The burger was executed nicely and all the flavors were on point. I hate to say it, it also took about a solid 7 minutes for us to even get some service to our table. And the worst part was there was only 2 other tables being served in the entire resturaunt at that time.
I would rate both Food & Service a 6.5 out of 10 across the board!
Unfortunately, I probably wont be dining here again. $98 for a meal that I waited for, for years just to be left unsatisfied.
