  • My company rented out about 20 rooms on a stopover on a our tour. I was the last to arrive last night and so was given, probably not the highest quality room, but I decided not to be bothered by it. The bathtub is dilapidated and peeling all over and when I entered the hotel room last night, the room smelled like the funk of 40 old men. But I didn't mind. I sprayed some Lysol and lit up a stick of incense to hide the stench, an action I was not made aware was a rule here. Well at 8am this morning, I woke up to the same funk, and so lit another stick of Incense. I didn't have the stick lit for even two minutes when I hear a man start barging on my door screaming "SECURITY!!!!" (Mind you, it's is 8 o'clock in the morning and my "Do Not Disturb" sign is hanging) When I opened the door, terrified that something was TRULY wrong because of the tone in his voice when he had beat on my door, he scolded me, telling me "We DO NOT burn incense or candles in this hotel. It is a BIG, BIG rule here...." This is, of course, a rule I was not Made aware of when I was given my key and entered my smelly room last night. I've been on this particular tour for 3 months, and no other hotel has had an issue when I've lit my incense, as I often do for prayer purposes in the morning. I suggest that in the future, this hotel make sure that the rooms don't smell when guests enter their rooms at night. I also suggest that even if it is a rule, if there is a "Do NoT Disturb" sign on a door in the morning, you kindly make a phone call to your guests, and not beat down their doors and chastise them as if they've just commuted murder. I was half naked and about to get in the the shower when I was so rudely invaded and berated like a child by security this morning. Your guests should be treated with more respect and Your security guard clearly needs a lesson in hotel etiquette.... I gave 3 stars because despite the one bad apple, everyone else on the hotel was friendly. And minus the condition of the bathtub, the hotel room was okay.
