My first visit to Chang's for a dim sum experience was not what I expected. I previously lived in NY where dim sum places are abundant. Compared to that, Chang's was just ordinary for me.
The dim sum selection was not as extensive and pretty much average in taste. The fried shrimp ball was an exception. It was very tasty and not greasy at all. The steamed spare ribs (paired with some bits of squash) was also a pleasant surprise. The coconut milk taro cake had a faint coconut flavor which I liked. The cake does not resemble a cake. It reminds me more of a silky tofu.
I haven't tried too many dim sum places in Vegas so I don't have a baseline to compare it to. The selections I had from the dim sum menu were decent. I left very satisfied and I would come back to try their a la carte menu as well.
