We had heard about Caffe Boa on "Check Please Arizona". We met friends (6 in the party) for dinner last Sunday with a reservation for the patio. Nice patio, off Mill Ave. so not very noisy. I have to give this place a very mixed rating.
Food: Entrees were good, they varied from pasta dishes to the burger. All good. We had the 2 different ravioli's, the Autunno and Agnolotti. the Abolotti had a nice little bit to it. The other was the Voodoo Penne. The burger was excellent, with a pile of fries! We had 4 salads, three Caesar, one House, all poor. The Caesars were so dry it was hard to tell if there was any dressing on them and the polenta square (plural on the menu) looked like a small leftover from another plate. Weak effort. The House also suffered from dryness.
Service: poor. The waiter started off very attentive but after the first 15 minutes we saw him less and less. We had to remind him of missing items constantly which was made more difficult by his lack of presence. Missing a salad, missing a beverage. My wife asked about bread, which he brought after a second inquiry 15 minutes later. We would have sent the salads back or requested more dressing but he was nowhere to be found.
We opted out for dessert as we were not willing to put up with the lack of service.
We will try Caffe Boa again but not for a while as there are so many other places to try first.
