St. Lawrence market is one of my favourite ways to spend a glorious saturday morning/afternoon. It is a food lover's paradise. All the sights and sounds of the vendor's goods, shoppers milling about ahhhh this is what I live for baby! I like to head to the north market first where the farmer's market takes place there is the cute elderly couple that trucks in to sell their eggs, uncle jorge's produce-(uncle jorge btw is a very kind fellow who will give you the occasional freebie in a bid to offload his goods), the strudel people and many other vendors. While it is true that some of the vendors here have their goods from the ontario food terminal and are not farmer's themselves I'm still appreciative of the wide variety of goods on display here in the morning.
Then I'll hop off across the street to the South market which is open from Tues-Sat to peruse my favourites: Schefflers for cheese and proscuitto smaples, Kozlik's to sample some new mustards, Dominios the bulk/specialty foods store downstairs, Rube at Rube's peacefuly tending to his legumes and rice, St. Lawrence pasta or the churrasco out front for a yummy lunch.
In short, everytime I go to the market it is amazing experience to take in the vast variety of produce and meat on display and to observe people from walks of life rushing about. Variety is the spice of life!
