Our first visit with Dr. Miller was great. They tell you to undress baby down to a clean diaper. The room was cold so I just put a blanket over her until she got checked. Dr. Miller was great, very personable and showed genuine care. I really liked her. She gave us a lot of useful information.
Our second visit. We waited a long time, for Dr. Lamotte. I think almost 45min-1hour in the patient room. My baby (and husband) were getting cranky. I noticed the bed wasn't even clean...the paper roll was fresh but you could tell that they didn't wipe the actual bed! There were little hairs on it.
Finally when Dr. Lamotte came in it felt like it was just about what she saw on the chart. She kept referring to my baby as "he", my baby is a girl! She seemed busy. She was out of there in less than 10minutes. She was not personable.
I want my daughters pediatrician to genuinely care about her as a baby/person. I want a doctor who will watch my baby grow and know her/us as the years pass.
I felt embarrassed because I was referred to Dr. Lamotte and I convinced my husband that after extensive research I felt she would provide the best care for our daughter. He didn't think so. I told him that maybe she was just busy that day. He didn't like it from the start that she was even referring to our daughter as a "he".
So we try Dr. Lamotte again on our 3rd visit. Same feeling. She never addressed one of our concerns from our last visit. Never asked for an update on how was she doing from the last time she saw her. She never even asked about us, how we were doing as new parents. Or even asked about us/who we are/what we did for a living etc. Dr. Miller did, I liked that. Dr. Miller was personable. If she had her own practice I'd take my baby there.
I guess all I want is not just a great doctor, I also want a doctor who will grow with our family too. I want a doctor who will use our first names and will remember who we are every time we come see her. With that said I don't think you can get that here. It's too busy. Too many doctors/nurses. You see different people on each visit.
Already cancelled my next app. Not going back. Going to another pediatrician/practice- hope we get what we're looking for!!
**btw I'm not trying to imply that Dr. Lamotte is not a great doctor.
This practice and type of care is just not what we're looking for.
