  • I'm going start this review by stating... we have stayed at the majority of 4 and 5 star locations in Las Vegas. We go there often, since it's only a 4 hour drive from Phoenix. The room... very nice... we had a King suite with a panoramic view. The view wasn't amazing... we faced the side where you see indoor skydiving and some older buildings. It was alright.. not a nice strip view. Everything was clean, well maintained. About two weeks ago according to the valet, Encore starting charging to park. It's $18 for 24 hours. Unless this is a new trend with other hotels, we thought this wasn't acceptable. We stayed a couple of nights... so $36 for parking. This is the first place we've stayed which charged for valet/overnight parking. Typically it's been free and we tip the valets when they park/retrieve the vehicle. I wonder with the new fees if they are passing it on to the valets? I would imagine they are losing out on tips now because of the additional parking fees. I felt as if the business decision/model was similar to the airlines...nickle and dime you for everything. Checking in...about 40 min... longest we have ever had to wait... anywhere in Las Vegas. Maybe this was just a fluke and we were unlucky? Everything facility wise is topnotch. The casino was nice as well. Back to the room.. you could hear people in the other rooms. Why parents bring kids ...young kids(infants/strollers) in particular to Las Vegas I will never know. We spent the majority of our time out of the room....so... the noisy kids were not a huge issue... just annoying late at night. One thing which didn't sit well was us ... maid service. We had the room serviced, when we returned.. there were crumbs on the couch and the entire room smelled of Mexican food/onion. I get it... we all need a lunch break... but... at least leave the place as if you were never there.. and not smelling like a giant onion. We called the front desk and let them know... didn't ask for anything in return... we just wanted to make them aware of the situation. All in all... it wasn't a horrible stay... it just didn't live up to the what I thought a stay at the Encore would be like. Would we stay again... no... for the money... I'd rather stay at the Mandarin Oriental or Nobu. So for us... a 3 star experience.
