I came to Pirata with some friends for dinner a few weeks ago! I've been here for drinks before, but this time, we tried dinner here. I started with the Colombian chicken soup. It was pretty good, but not super flavorful. I also ordered the Jamaican beef patty and a puerro (leek) and queso fritto empanada. My other friends also ordered the Jamaican beef patty with some other items. For all of us, the beef patty was the star of the show. The crust was flaky and the filling was delicious! I gave Pirata three stars for a couple reasons. First, nothing that I tried (my own order or things that my friends ordered) truly blew me out of the water. Also, our waitress was really nice, but kind of pushy. She came around constantly and removed plates from our table, that she thought we were finished with. There were a few times where we had a few more bites of food on the plate and she just removed them without asking if we were finished first. I got the feeling you get when a place is about to close and the employees are trying to quickly clean up... only we had about three hours before the place was closing for the night. I think next time, I will stick to the drinks at Pirata.
