  • My aunt who lives with us but has a different last name than the rest of the household, noticed she wasn't receiving her mail and instead her son across the country was receiving it. Come to find out, the mailman took it upon himself to decide that, since she has a different last name, she must not live here -- so her mail was being sent to her son with the same last name. When my aunt confronted them, the mailman claimed he spoke to someone at our house who agreed that she did not live here. Problem is: none of us spoke to a mailman; and if we did, we would have never said she didn't live here. My aunt told the post office to just hold her mail, and she will physically go and pick it up. Since then I, along with the rest of the household, noticed that none of us were receiving any bills or packages we ordered online. I looked up the tracking number for three items I ordered online, and they all stated: "Held at Post Office, At Customer Request." So it looks like the post office took it upon themselves to now hold all of our mail. But if she "doesn't live here" as the mailman claimed, why would the rest of our mail be held as well? I don't know if this was done as retribution or for a misunderstanding on their part about something that should not have even happened in the first place, but shouldn't this be considered mail tampering? Someone arrest these people.
