| - Yup, I'm totally coming back here. Unbelievable prices and nice Japanese izakaya (bar-style) foods available, along with some more elegant fare and sushi.
Their menus had a lot of photos in them. Our table, when sat, was full of menus--they handed us 3 different menus to order from (see pics - pretty funny!) Sushi menu from Naked Fish, $2.80 & $3.80 izakaya menu, sakes and alcohol, a full regular food menu...I couldn't keep track of all of them!
The menus included a potato salad (Japanese potato salad is really good, and theirs was made with bleu cheese. I didn't order it, but my antennae are raised for the next time.) Karage, katsu, spring rolls, butter squid etc. typical iza food all found here.
It was dimly-lit, and while hard to see, I liked the feeling/look. They had individual shoji-screened rooms for intimate dinners in the other room, but we ate in the tiny main area of the restaurant. We ordered from every menu except the alcohol one:
-Baby ika (squid) with garlic and asparagus *on special* - SO DELICIOUS. I didn't want the little bowl to end.
-Koro Koro steak. I don't eat beef but I made my friend eat it (I paid, so I got to call the shots haha!) He didn't have any feedback on it. I ate the bean sprouts underneath the steak. Really salty sauce; don't think I would order a chicken version of one if they offered it.
-Agedashi tofu. One of my most favorite things to eat. I am keeping my tofu intake low these days, but it was both beautiful and delicious. Silken tofu with a soft-fried exterior, swimming in a soy broth...a staple for me.
-Kyara popper. True story. When I asked the waiter what he liked that I should order, he recommended this: a crabmeat filled jalapeno. While spicy and good, I would not have ordered something like this here. This is the kind of fusion I can live without lol
-Kawa. Skewers of chicken skin! Aaah, it was like eating in Japan again! Fatty, fatty goodness. I was sad that I gobbled two, and considered ordering another one.
-Sasami. Chicken tender skewer. This took the longest to prepare and I was surprised how big each skewer was. It was like they twisted an entire breast onto them!
-My buddy ordered a roll, but I can't remember what he ordered. I think he liked it?
-Dessert (thanks, Yelp check-in!) was vanilla ice cream with a green tea sauce drizzled on it. I tried it and it was a nice way to close the meal.
My entire bill was $46. For two people. Ridic. Give these guys your business; you won't be disappointed!
