  • A brand new brewery a couple miles from my house, especially in Stow, a place that lacks the small business touch of neighboring Kent and Hudson? Uhh ya, of course I had to try it out! Headtrip didn't disappoint. First of all, I found their beers to be phenomenal. Most are $5-6 dollars, and a flight of 4 different 5oz samples was $6.50. The F'n Round Imperial is 13.1% alcohol. I've come to the conclusion that they sold their souls to the devil in order to make a beer that strong, and taste so light. It has meade in it, so has a honey taste. It drinks like a 6% beer. You can order a 5 oz sample of it too. My wife ordered the "Thank Evans! Stout" and loooved it. It has chocolate, peanut butter, oatmeal and coffee flavors. The Mannekin Belgian Style Golden Strong Ale was also light and refreshing, and was a surprising 8%. This is my favorite type of beer, and I was impressed. I enjoyed the Arndale Ale and Stowner Stout (smoked stout), and to a degree the popular Bike&Hike IPA, but I'm just not an IPA guy. The place is relatively small, about 10 tables. It's located in a strip mall area. We came on a Saturday night, and it was pretty busy, every table was taken. It's well decorated, with some nice pallet work, and cool wooden tables. They have a dartboard, and about 5 seats at the bar area. The service was great. Our waitress was personable, and knew the beer options well. She was able to explain each option in detail. There was a little music playing near the bar, but not enough to hear anywhere else. Now that I'm a little older, I can appreciate being in a place where you can actually hear the person next to you talk, unlike some more college-ish bars, but probably would have liked a little more music to listen to. I think that's the vibe they're going for though. I don't think there were any TV's (I could be wrong, I mean, the imperial stout is 13.1% for god sakes) so not the best place to go if you're looking to watch a game. As of now, they are only open Thursday-Saturday. They don't serve food, but East of Chicago and Tong Tong are in the same strip mall, so you can order that or bring your own food. We're excited to go back!
