I've never been a skater, but when I was growing up in Scottsdale, this is where all the skaters I knew got their stuff. So when our nephew got into skating, we knew he needed a helmet that would keep him safe but not look so lame that he'd never wear it. I knew we needed a real skate shop and not a big box store. (I'm a cyclist. I know what it feels like to want a Specialized and end up with a Huffy.)
So when we went back to Scottsdale to visit my folks, we went straight here, because while I don't know what the good skate shops are in Houston, I know Sidewalk Surfer is legit. The staff knew their stuff and picked out something for him that he wears with pride and uses every day.
So if you're a parent, know that you can trust these folks to give you good advice and that they sell quality stuff. And if you're a skater, know that this was the shop that everybody respected back in the day and that hasn't changed.
