  • The stylist my son and I see at my salon is on vacation so I decided to stop in for my son to get a kids cut, 12 year old at our local Sports Clips. No greeting when entering, no explanation for check in although a stylist was behind the counter. I signed in and was sure to circle that NO we had not been to a Sports Clips previously. Stylist called my sons name (same stylist who stood behind counter upon arrival with no acknowledgment we were there) and took him to the back. She did not greet me or ask what we would like. I called out to my son and asked him if he knew what he'd like for her to do. She glanced at me and nodded that he did. While waiting, I noticed that she did not speak to my son or engage him in friendly conversation but instead complained loudly about pay rates and having to work that day (holiday weekend). Cut finished, my son came out with an unhappy expression with hair ALL over him. I asked him if he was alright and he replied that he wanted to leave as soon as possible. I asked why she didn't shampoo his hair and he said she was so rough, all he wanted to do was leave so he told her No thank you. I went to the counter and asked her to brush off some of the hair and noticed the she had used a #1 all over (a buzz cut) and asked if she could even out the back and perhaps fade the edge of the hairline in. Her response? "I can make it bald, is that what you want?" I stood in shock for a moment and then showed her the back hairlines crookedness and demonstrated my fade in request. She again replied that she could make it bald but that was all she could do. I asked if she would mind brushing off some of the hair. She took my son by the shoulders and used a hand towel to 'smack' the hair off of him. At this point, wanting to leave and NEVER come back, I went to pay (coupon for child's cut) and was told he was too old, so I pulled out a 'mens cut' coupon and utilized that for a cost of $2 more than the child's cut ($12.00). She had difficulty checking us out as she neglected to notice that I circled that we had not been there before and so I waited. Thoroughly disgusted with customer service and her blatant rudeness, I did not tip and we left. I will not return to a Sports Clips for the experience of this weekend. We rectified the situation by chancing an actual salon down the street, paying more, $23.00, but she was able to amend the horrible cut by trimming the hairline even and fading the back and sides. She engaged my son in conversation, asking him what he'd like, was gentle with his head and shampooed and conditioned his hair well.
