  • I love Outback. But I love it for odd reasons: 1) they have the BEST broccoli 2) Their ranch dressing is ever so slightly different than normal. I really do go to Outback and get broccoli and a salad sometimes. Howeva... tonight was about trying out the new bar menu. We got to test out the new drinks and bar food before it was made to the public. I love a drink and we got tokens for two free drinks. Not gonna lie, the OUtback staff gave me three for free. Shhhhh. ;) First I tried the skinny margarita. Normally I shy away from these things because there is a certain 'famous' Skinny Margarita and it tastes horrible. I can't believe that chic made billions off that nasty bottle of chemicals. I'd rather have the calories and drink a *real* margarita. But tonight it was free so I figured what the heck. I liked it. No chemical taste at all. It wasn't overly sweet from artificial sweetener either. It was a good mix of sweet/acidic. I then had the Blackberry Sangria. This was my favorite. Delicious fresh fruit and a not to sweet taste. I really hate sweet drinks... The seemingly neverending parade of appetizers brought out on us was a great treat. I did miss out on the short rib nachos and man I wish I had some. But I'll be using my free coupons we got to try those out. However, I did sample everything else: margherita flatbread, chicken and artichoke flatbread, coconut shrimp, blooming petals (not to be confused with the blooming onion), the chips/jalapeno ranch dip. I detest mushrooms so opted to skip those fried mushroom plates. My favorite by far was the coconut shrimp. Fried shrimp really doesn't appeal to me most times because I like to taste the shrimp rather than taste 'fried'. These actualy tasted like shrimp AND coconut. Hard to manage by most restaurants. I was pleased to note that the new menu, once released, will offer $4 drinks and appetizers. Most things we sampled will be a measley four bucks. Pretty fantastic. A shout out to the Outback staff for running around like crazy to give us such courteous and friendly service and to Lindsey for another great event. I so wish I was able to win that sweet basket. Oh well, I have two free food coupons and I plan on tearing into some short rib nachos!!
