| - So this time I will begin with the 5 senses review then get into the all the words. Just as a heads up, this review is only about the massage service at Verve and not the many other services provided. Scale 1-10 (10 the best).
Sight: 8-Very cool place, modern and eclectic (perhaps) look to the space. Cool exposed brick, high ceilings. This is not your typical day spa, but a well done use of an older building down town.
Hearing: 6-Typical of a salon, but for getting a peaceful massage, being able to hear people walk around and talk was a little distracting.
Taste: 1-Nothing here really. Unless you get something to drink. They had a miniature bottle of "champagne" and Stover's chocolates for us.
Touch: 8-it is a massage after all. See below for more.
Smell: 6-Just enough scent in the room of the oils, lotions and whatever else to be nice but not overdone.
So, Verve was very accommodating and friendly. When you first arrive, the staff greats you warmly and are glad you are there. As I said before this is not your typical (in the sense of style) spa, but they treat you well. Even though this review is geared towards the massage, Verve does offer many services to take care of your whole body top to bottom and inside and out. Aesthetically it is a relaxed and fun environment, but for the massage room keep in mind that this is a refurbished building. It is not a room you would expect in a 5 star hotel. However I love exposed brick but not so much in panel ceilings.
This was a couples massage for my wife and I and both of our masseuses were respectful clear in directions and observant of our requests. Since they are great at meeting your requests, please remember to be specific. If you want the whole session spent on one or a few areas then speak up. The room was lit well and warm enough. They were great with the draping of the blankets and never once did my wife or I feel "exposed". Our session was 50 min. but they do have additional options for session length. The massage peeps are kind and have a great sense of touch and timing. She was great and certainly be the hell out of my trigger points, but I should have directed her to a few specific areas. This was on me. Be specific or sit back and relax. They are great and quite mighty.
A nice thing following the massage id a recommendation cars. Ideas on how to improve yourself between sessions. For example my masseuse suggested yoga, use of a foam roller and a specific trigger point tool to work on the knots in my back.
Over all it was a good experience.
