This place USED to be great. I am a local and would go about once a month, and I would ALWAYS bring my friends there when they visit. It was always fun with friendly service in a fun and safe environment. Although you may drop a few bucks, it always felt like a good value.
I went this past weekend to take some friends who were in town and found that things had changed for the worse. It starts outside, where they have some girl trying to sell you a VIP package for $50. This gets you a personal gun trainer or something that will show you how to use the guns. Yeah, this used to be free (plus tip as I always did). Now you can still go in without paying the $50, and a range master or something will help you. Not sure what the difference is.
So we skipped the $50 thing and went in. What we found was rude service asking us what we wanted to shoot before we could barely look at the guns. I knew since I was there before but my out of town visitors did not. It used to be they would help you decide, especially when we had girls with us as we did this time. We all wanted to shoot a handgun and something else. The guy tells us no hand guns because they have too many people and the range master doesn't have time for the handguns. So we left. In this economy they let what would have been $220 walk right out the door. (Not to mention future business.)
My guess is that they are only interested in people who are willing to pay the $50 plus another $100+ for one of their packages. I'm afraid that like many other places in town the Gun Store has decided to make their money by charging outrageous cover fees, increasing the avgerage $ per customer , and not caring about whether or not you come back.
It is a shame because this place was the bomb. Too bad they are letting GREED ruin it.
