***YELP 100 CHALLENGE 83/100***
It's not everyday you go to a market/store and feel right at home. This place reminds me of the family owned businesses in the Philippines that are genuinely about the consumers and interaction and that quality of service is of the utmost importance.
They've only been opened for about 7 months but steadily gaining loyal customers especially amongst the Asians in the neighborhood. They're located about 3 doors down from Suzuya bakery in the same area as Sonic's. The owner Dennis is very pleasant and gracious for your patronage. The type who's really nice that you can't help but root for, and a plus is he's a Veteran.
I remember when I first walked in when they've only been opened a week and they were still setting up shop, he asked my input on how he could further better his store and I mentioned the large Polynesian communities in the area and that it would be to his advantage to carry those products as well. Now it's my one stop shop when I want to buy ingredients to make Filipino dishes or pick up some Zippy's chili and Portuguese sausage and of course Aloha Shoyu. They have everything you can think of here: Magnolia ice cream, frozen products like longanisa and hotdogs, fresh produce, beauty products and various specialties from different Asian countries and Hawaii. If you happen to can't find something you're looking for, don't hesitate to talk to Dennis about it because most likely he can order it for you and start carrying them in store. Prices are comparable to going to International Market but less money spent on gas so it's a win win situation coming here.
