I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife for drinks. We arrived to Allegheny City Brewing at around 2 PM to find the place packed. There was a food truck outside as well as a couple sitting at the outdoor table. Inside there was a bar off to the left and then some seating behind it and to the side of it with only a picnic like table open. So my wife and I quickly ordered and sat down. On this day I went with a flight as I often do whenever I visit new breweries. A flight at Allegheny City Brewing consisted of choosing 5 - 5 oz samples from their list of 12 (including guest taps) that was on the chalkboard behind the bar. I ended up choosing the serviceberry wild (saison), deutschtown brown (brown ale), pale boy (APA), starlake (wheat w/ raspberries), and Myrons Pale (APA). All of the beers were solid and my favorites of the bunch were the serviceberry (funky in a good way) and myrons pale (very hoppy from the 3 different hops). They also had a number of different board games here that you could play while you were drinking. So my wife and I opted to play Yahtzee while I drank all of the samples.
The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I liked all the beers that I had and think Allegheny City Brewing is a nice addition to the ever growing Pittsburgh Craft Beer scene.
