| - Was looking foward for this Holiday Inn burger and beer restaurant to open and waited until yesterday to try it out for lunch. Opted for a table instead of sitting at the large bar. Ordered a single beef burger, all the veggies, blue cheese, house sauce (server said it was "just like 1000 Island dressing") and onion rings.
The space is pretty sparse with minimal decor/decoration. One large group/communal table sat a group of at least 10, 7 sitting at the bar and people were at five to six tables. Everyone was in a great mood and resulted in the place being really loud.
Food came out on a half sheet pan. Burger, pickle slice and a small galvanized tin bucket for the onion rings.
The burger was pretty close to the ordered medium rare temp, and a small amount of blue cheese was beneath the meat. The onion rings were awesome....all 5 of them. At $3.50 or .70 per ring they had better be good.
Had to bypass the nice beer selection as this was a work day.
Expected a few bumps, food coming out slow and had to pay at the bar as the server looked like he was on the phone with the register/point of sale system problems. The bartender was quick to overcome the problem by ringing up a new order and he was able to cash me out in just a few minutes. Again I came in expecting these opening week jitters.
While the food was OK the bill was over $13, without tip, for a 1/3 lb. single patty blue cheese burger, all the veggies, 5 onion rings and a glass of wate.
If one were a business traveler with an expense account and ended up staying at the Airport Holiday Inn you wouldn't blink at the check amount. However, being a local who knows where a lot of great burger places with lower prices that are just as far of a drive is another matter.
