Pleasantly surprised with the food here. I went with my family and a guest from out of town and 3 out of 4 people really enjoyed the food.
At Koisin, they start out by giving you a pumpernickel rye bread that is very tasty. While the chicken tortilla soup was decent, the salads were a definite improvement. For entrees, two people had the shortribs and gnocci and they both really enjoyed it. I had the mesquite fillet, which was very tender-it was excellent.
My father had a steak. He did not want the gorgonzola crust or any seasoning on it yet then complained that it was plain. Well I tasted it and thought it was very good. The duck fat potatoes served with the steak were excellent as well.
For dessert, we shared the corn dusted churros. They were fantastic. They came with two sauces, a goat milk caramel sauce and a vanilla mesquite sauce.
Very good meal overall.
