I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for our morning coffee. Blawnox generally isn't in our wheelhouse of places to visit but the Curbside Cafe was on the Pittsburgh Coffee Passport and so we headed over. The inside of this place is bright and quite nice. It has light wood floors and a white, black and grey backsplash covers the front of their coffee counter. There is also a bunch of huge baked goods laying around and a display case with a number of delicious looking food items, at least to me. Things like Buffalo chickpeas and angus pastrami and bacon with rosemary mayo. In any case on this day we were given free reign of the menu with our coffee passports and so I ordered their banana fosters latte while my wife went with the blawnox fog. We also decided on an order of avocado Toast. The toast ended up being quite good as it had an ample amount of avocado on it and was toasted nicely. I especially liked the toppings of black sesame seed, olive oil and sea salt (maybe Maldon?) with that salt really really making the toast for me. As for the coffee and tea, they were both good and what you would expect. The banana fosters latte started off with a bit of fake banana taste before finishing off with a smooth caramel flavor which I enjoyed. Meanwhile the Blawnox fog started off with a nice earl grey flavor which transitioned into a somewhat sweet finish. Overall I was really impressed with this place!
The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. Actually out of the places we have thus far been to on the second Pittsburgh Coffee Passport, this is the one that I would be most likely to come back to. Both my wife and I really enjoyed everything that we tried and there were some other foods in the display case which I would love to try in the future.
