| - For the most part, this review will be about the ice-skating facilities in Alexandra Park, although the rest of the park seems okay too. There is an outdoor swimming pool, a baseball diamond, a children's playground, and park benches around the open spaces.
The skating area is almost identical to what I have described for Ramsden Park (previously reviewed). There is a full-sized hockey rink and a rectangular ice pad for leisure skating beside it. The 2 times that I have been there, first on a Saturday evening then a weekday morning, the ice surface has been very good (even though it had snowed earlier on the Saturday). Neither time was there more than a half-dozen people, so the skating was very informal rather than just in an oval. There is a large open changing area with washrooms and an attendant in the building behind the hockey rink, and there is an on-site zamboni stored next-door. The zamboni driver did a fairly good job on my Saturday evening skate, again despite the fact that it had started snowing again by that time. Overall, a pretty good place to go for some leisure skating.
