The house we purchased had a Culligan water conditioning system. It's 8 years old and we own it so we expect to have repairs periodically. Culligan repaired the electrical parts in 2011. In the summer of 2012 we began having problems again and called them to check it out. It ended up the "beads" in the tank have begun to turn to mush and needed to be replaced. The repairman took the tank with him and said it would be 1-2 weeks and they would call to set an appointment to install the repaired tank.
2 1/2 weeks later, on a Wednesday, I call them to schedule an appointment. The customer service agent seemed surprised I had to call them rather than receiving a call myself. We set up the time for Friday morning between 7 am and 11 am. The night before they call to reschedule, leaving a message saying that they will be here in the afternoon. At Friday noon I call to see what "the afternoon" time frame is. I was told by scheduling that it means between 11 and 3. We also agree that the installer will call me before showing up. At 3:15 I leave to run a couple of errands and returned at 4:15. I never received a call and no one ever showed up.
I expected they would call me on Monday to reschedule for that day. No call came. Tuesday morning I call at 7:30 to schedule a time and I am asked, "Didn't we install that on Friday?". Ugh, really? So, I am told that the installer will be at my house around noon today. We'll see. If I haven't seen anyone by 5:00 PM today I've decided to report my tank stolen to the police so that I can file an insurance claim.
I can't even say I've received bad service...they have just flat out taken my tank under the guise of fixing it and never returned it! I guess I'm a sucker to think that a name like Culligan means anything. You can bet that when I replace it I won't be buying a Culligan.
