| - After 497 reviews at the time of this writing, and with 4.5 stars, I don't think that I have too much to add on the awesomeness of this place that hasn't been said numerous times before. I will say that they have recently enlarged the seating area - but I went around 6:30 pm on Weds, and it was still pretty packed. People love this place, and for good reason. Authentic, hearty, unpretentious, great grilled/charred flavor, BYOB at no charge, fast service - that alone puts it in the top restaurants in Pittsburgh.
I went on a hot summer day, and I will say that while it was air conditioned on the inside, I was quite warm. The ac is lined on one side of the upstairs room, and is not so easily felt on the other side. It is also a bit loud - but then I suppose that is to be expected when there are sooo many people wanting in that place. These were very minor inconveniences given that the food was so good.
I would like to add that the overall costs for this place are very reasonable for the quality of food that you are getting. Value is even better since there is no alcohol served here, and there is no corkage fee to bring your own alcoholic beverage. In addition, there is no real wait staff, only a few servers and a busboy. I think for this reason many people may not leave a tip - but there is a tip jar at the front by the cashier. Normally, I am not a fan of most tip jars (as many places seem to have one for no reason at all), but assuming that the busboys and servers get a portion of it, I happily left one. All of the staff here were friendly and helpful, and I hope that others reading this will realize that and leave a few bucks for the hard working staff here.
