Cost of day pass: $100 (significantly less if you're a hotel guest), a premium for the name & the luxury associated with the brand's reputation. The lush, black bathrobe and the ritual of trading in your shoes for slippers with massaging soles sets them apart from the rest. Sophisticated, sleek facility, as to be expected of the Mandarin Oriental, and an attendant (Audrey) who was an absolute joy. My low-ish rating reflects my disappointment in their amenities, not in their service or aesthetics.
The vitality pool features half a dozen stainless steel loungers on which to enjoy views of The Strip. The spa was mostly empty the Sunday we visited so we dipped in & out to our hearts' content; had the spa been busy, this singular pool wouldn't have sufficed to accommodate the (potential) crowd.
Common spa elements occupied our time: laconium (consisted of one bench); heated stone chairs facing The Strip (I'm beginning to think I paid just to view The Strip from three floors up!); fun experience showers; steam room; ice, but no igloo-type room (which is one of my favorite rooms at a spa); quiet room with watermelon-cucumber water, banana chips, fresh fruit (the towels & linens on the beds didn't appear 100% fresh to me, so I didn't partake.) I'm hesitant to round up my rating because there was nothing unique or mind-blowing offered here. Beautiful, but lacking.
